Boomgrass

Bluegrass meets bass music at an off-grid party in the woods—two years of building something that shouldn't work but did.

The Challenge

Fusion events usually fail. Genre purists hate the crossover, production requirements conflict, and audiences fragment. Boomgrass bet that acoustic instrumentation and electronic production could coexist—not as novelty but as genuine musical dialogue.

The harder challenge: doing it off-grid. No power infrastructure, remote location, everything hauled in and hauled out.

The Approach

Core founding member and event production lead for 2020 and 2021 editions. Responsibilities spanned stage design, lighting systems, and overall production coordination.

The stage design prioritized acoustic performance while supporting electronic production—treating the space as an instrument rather than a backdrop. Lighting installations were battery and generator-powered, designed for visual impact with minimal power draw.

Production logistics meant coordinating multiple crews, managing remote site access, and building infrastructure that could disappear when the event ended.

Outcome

Two successful events that proved the fusion concept. The Boomgrass format demonstrated that genre boundaries are more porous than music scenes admit, and that off-grid production is possible at scale with proper planning.
